I can remember as a six-year-old child attending ballet classes every week in the local church hall. In the class were around fifteen giggling girls and only one little boy. Each week the little boy would say he had forgotten his ballet shoes, so he could not dance, and so sat and watched us from a chair at the side. I never understood why he did this and why he could not dance without his ballet shoes, but kept quiet because he did not seem to mind missing out and having to watch. I now realise that there was more to this little boy than just being forgetful, and that at the age of six he was fully aware of his compromising and unhappy situation in a ballet class... Stamping Ground is an unfunded event and sincerely acknowledges generous support for 2006 Big Battle prizes from Jenny McKinnon $150 Anne Rosewood $200 and The Lodge Restaurant $500 (restaurant vouchers for tutors) Other Thank You's During the 2006 event a flood emergency added to festival dramas. My thanks to the many local people who offered assistance to campers, in particular Rob Stockton/Bellingen High School for temporary accommodation during flood emergency Bellingen SES for fast assistance with camping ground evacuation and rain-damage assistance at Memorial Hall. Max & Ida Francis for supervising emergency personnel at the Memorial Hall. Local folk who came to the hall to offer accommodation and other help. Thanks also to Brett Weick from LJ Hooker for the generous loan and delivery of a farm buggy for labyrinth production. |
